Who Knows…

11th September 2008 · 8 Comments

… what goes through kids’ heads sometimes. I try not to make too many posts along the line of “hey look what cute thing MY child said today”, but I couldn’t resist sharing these two:

Akra Jr: “Did dinosaurs stamp on where our house is?”
Me: “I don’t know dear, I wasn’t there”
Akra Jr: “But Nana was…”

Just hope he doesn’t repeat that one in front of Nana – I’m sure she’d be thrilled to know that her grandson thinks she is around 64 million years old.

Li’l Bhaji: “I don’t want to be dead. I want to be Lego.”

My youngest son has some weird ideas about death at the moment (if ever I mention when he or I am older he’ll cheerfully reply “oh, when you’re dead?”) but this one takes the biscuit.

I think it’s something to do with Lego Star Wars game where they don’t really die if they run out of life, just respawn. It’s as good an afterlife theory as any, I suppose, and better than a good few.

I remember when you posted the first one on Twitter, I couldn’t stop laughing! :)

    > “Did dinosaurs stamp on where our house is?”

The answer is, of course, “almost certainly, yes”. After all, there were a lot of dinosaurs all across Britain for 250 million years. The chances of there being a square inch of land that they didn’t stomp on is pretty small.

Unless you live on the Isle of Thanet, or near The Wash, or on some other bit of comparatively new land.

As a parent, I love hearing the funny things kids say! I’m sure Nana would get a good laugh.

Awwwww and also, hahahahahaha! Oh, and you should share more of these little gems!

    Awww :)

And I’m so glad to see Lego Star Wars is still being enjoyed ;) Not moved onto the Indie one yet then?

Cat: my apologies for sharing it twice :) I’m never quite sure how much overlap I have between twitter readers and blog readers!

wintermute: thank you – next time he asks, I’ll let him know.

Tami and Colin: glad you liked it! The balance between fun kid stuff and boring people to death is a hard line to tread.

Ys: no, funnily enough Indie got played for about 2 days then they’ve never touched it again. Star Wars still rules supreme.

Oh no, I didn’t mean it like that, I just thought back then it was a great comment, but never did reply on Twitter for some reason. :)

And whilst I love all the Lego Star Wars, I couldn’t really get into Lego Indie.

I know you didn’t mean it like that, don’t worry :) I was having a subtle dig at myself for reusing material, but it doesn’t come across well in text ;)
