And so we enter the last week of term. I can’t say that I’m not looking forward to the end of this one, to be honest, as it just seems to have been a constant time juggle throughout.
What with various activities, potty training, the dropping of naps, terrible weather and lots of boundary pushing it just feels like every area of my life has suffered – none of them getting the amount of attention and time that they deserve. I’m lurching from one crisis to the next, but also becoming mind-numbingly bored.
Okay, so the holidays probably won’t be an easy ride – with no nursery or school respite it’ll still be hard to fit everything I want to get done into one day, but at least we won’t be always dashing off to the next thing… having to time every activity with the artificial cut off of school pick up or Tumble tots session. We also get to finish with toddler group this term (Li’l Bhaji will be going to nursery five mornings a week from September) and while our group has been absolutely fantastic, I’ve been going to it for over four years now and I’ve outgrown it as much as my children have.
I’m not the only one who is suffering from end-of-term-itis either. Both boys have been playing up considerably over the last few weeks. They’re whiny, argumentative and tired. We’re all looking forward to some lazy days.
Oh, and some sunshine would be nice too, please.

Nearly there? I’m already 2 weeks into ours and with hubby away with work recently this hasn’t been the most relaxing holidays. Pray for good weather so they aren’t indoors driving you crazy!
(It is at these times I notice how damn expensive everywhere is to visit! How are prices down south where you are? Equally expensive or do you not have to sell a child just to afford more than one a week?)

Equally expensive :( Although we do pay for membership of the National Trust so we’ve “prepaid” lots of outings (and our local NT property has a really nice playground). Of course, we need nice weather for that…

Hanbury Hall

Isn’t there a place quite close by – beginning with ‘C’? It’s quite a new acquisition for the NT but it won’t have a playground though. Do they still make cider at Hanbury? We found a lovely camping site on a farm in Bishop’s Castle – kids are allowed to ‘play’ with the animals etc. (But that’s for your tenting outings!!)

Yes, Miss L – Croome Park. It is lovely, but there’s a lake there so much more of a “whole family” outing – not sure I’d trust Li’l Bhaji near the lake without an extra pair of hands close by!!
I really hope the weather improves ready for our tenting outings…

I love it when the kids are out of school. It is much calmer.

No no no. I meant: how about our proposed rendezvous at Shugborough? Still on for it?

My problem is that my wife is going into hospital at the end of July for an abdominoplasty operation so she will be completely laid up for at least two weeks. She won’t even be allowed to lift a kettle. This means that I won’t be able to go out with the kids anywhere for two to three weeks.
However, a couple of friends have said that they will take the kids for days out a couple of times.
I just hope they stick to it.

Lisa: definitely still on for it.
Alley Katt: eep – yes, hope you get a bit of a break! And make your wife lots of cups of tea if she’s not allowed to lift a kettle… ;)
