I have not had a very good couple of weeks. You might have inferred that from my silence (or alternatively, you could just be thinking I was being lazy – well, that’s sort of true too).
Since I’ve had the Mirena out I’ve had a huge range of side-effects as my hormones seem to have gone into freefall: exhaustion, tearfulness, anxiety, insomnia and abdominal aches.
Considering the dose of hormones in the Mirena coil are supposed to be small and localised, its removal certainly has had a big effect – I feel all over the place and not able to trust my own reactions to things at the moment.
Hopefully it will settle down soon and I can rediscover what feeling “normal” is – whatever that might mean.

Let’s hope it settles down again for you soon. Nice to see what to expect from my wife when she has hers out. ;o)
Basically from the sounds of it, it is puberty all over again as your body tries to conform to what the body is doing with this massive change in your life. I will say, there is a spray you can get. It is called “Bach Rescue Remedy”. It is said to destress you. Hmmm, maybe I should give it a go. :)
Good luck.

Funnily enough, I used some rescue remedy to help me sleep two nights in a row when the anxiety just got too much to cope with. It did help.

I had a similar reaction when I had my Norplant removed. I also found myself feeling so desperately horny that I had to hide under my desk at work for an hour in case any men came near me and I embarrassed myself. Didn’t remember that being mentioned in the literature…
