I know I’ve been really dismal at replying to comments the last few days, sorry about that. I am reading and enjoying all your comments though even if I don’t always get a chance to respond!

NaNo is going less than well. Tiredness is setting in, lots of other demands on my time have suddenly become urgent, I’m about 2000 words behind where I wanted to be right now, and more recently the satellite signal on our TV has disappeared.

Yes, I now have to write without recourse to CBeebies.

Finances being as they are, we’re going to have to wait until next payday to get it fixed, so I face the next two weeks of NaNo without the electronic babysitter.

Oh shit, I’m doomed.

On my sky box, sometimes it says “no signal is being received”. I find that a) the classic IT solution of turning it off and on again or b) disconnecting and reconnecting the satellite cable normally sorts it out. Hope that returns you to a cbeebies wonderland

Ditto what Ian said, and sometimes even something as simple as flicking up and down the channels sorts it out (no idea why!). Good luck Pewari, don’t give up on Nanowrimo just yet – you’ve come so far!

Remember you do know someone whose husband works as advanced tech in a certain satellite tv company that rhymes with pie.

So if you explained the problem you might not need to spend any pennies.

The turning off and on again is our usual fix, but doesn’t work this time :( We’ve even tried unplugging the phone cable then rebooting but that’s not helped either. Going through the channels doesn’t work. Signal strength on the systems details menu thingie isn’t showing any. Looks well and truly stuffed, to me :(

Woke up this morning to no internet, but fortunately that returned or I’d REALLY be in trouble!

Don’t worry, not giving up on NaNo – I’m just finding it a bit of a struggle at the moment. Forgot to mention I also have a really bad cold, and last night I was just chucking words in a Word document, knowing that it didn’t make grammatical sense, not being in a state to actually formulate proper sentences, but still wanting to get my word count up!!! I’ve got to go back and fix that today, argh!

I usually unplug for 60 seconds, then take the card out. Give the card a good clean, then put the card back in, switch it on and then swear when it doesn’t work. :D The last time that it went wrong permanently, I phoned sky, and they told me I would have to pay £200 to get it fixed. I said I couldn’t affor so I should cancel my subscription, and they told me they would give me a freebie repair.
Give that a go, you never know.

We can’t, Alley Katt – we’ve already cancelled a few months back. We only get the free channels now (or did until it went wrong).

Well that puts paid to that thought then. Oh well. You could always get a DVB-T card for your computer and have then sitting in front of the computer all day instead.

    LOL

[hugs her computer and says they're not getting near THAT!]

Freeview boxes are really cheap now, and you get a couple of cartoon channels on there too (Pop and Tinypop) so it’s great for the kids. Still got Cbeebies as well, of course! Worth a look?

Freeview in our area only has some of the channels not all – and most importantly, Cbeebies is one that we wouldn’t get (drat it!)

In laws have very generously offered to fund the repair – repairperson was due round this afternoon but delayed and is coming tomorrow instead.
