Feel the Burn

2nd July 2004 · 4 Comments

Well, I have completed my first exercise session of my newly rediscovered-in-the-back-of-the-garage callanetics tape. I apparently have muscles that I never knew existed.

I’m celebrating with alcohol, icecream and chocolate… is that bad or mandatory?

Much to my shame, I used to be able to do super callanetics. I don’t think I could even attempt the leg lift now never mind that super hip shimmy near the end. That is a real killer, isn’t it?
I would say that the ice cream and choloate was the only way to recover after an hour’s session involving that!

Much to *my* shame, I’m only doing the beginner tape at the moment (half an hour), although I do own both the full callanetics and super callanetics tapes. I’m so out of practise now – I found *all* of them a real killer!! “Work up to 100 repetitions” … get to 5 and think “can I stop yet?!”

Is this easier than joining a gym? Kind answers please!

It’s easier in that you don’t have people pointing and laughing when you can’t even do the basic stuff *grin*. I find callanetics easier on my back and joints than other exercises, but more intensive than yoga (which my post-birth stomach desperately needs). Harder to keep up the motivation at home though. I’m being realistic and only expecting to do the tape 1-2 times a week though – no way can I fit in 30mins-1hr every day.
